A lid made of the same material with a floral medallion in the centre with pink ribbon threaded through flower . Finished with lace crocheted around edge. Four pink ribbon bows placed around edge. Lined with pink cotton gathered . Seven rows of pink & blue flowered braid. The name of Lydia in gold printing on pink ribbon diagonally across lid with 14 small gold medallions placed between the rows. The avenue of trees is along the main pathway of the old section of the Sunbury Cemetery. In 1862 the cemetery in Sunbury was laid out in Christian denominational sections. There were other sections set aside for paupers, heathens and pagans. Hard cover paper pages containing minutes of meetings of the Golden Square Patriotic League. This organisation affiliated with the Australian Comforts Fund in 1919 as the Golden Square Branch. Lydia Pethard was secretary of the branch. The ACF wound up in August 1920 and the local branch dispensed of its assets on 18 August 1920. In June 1940 Mrs Lydia Chancellor (nee Pethard) recommended the minutes of the ACF Golden Square. The photograph of Sunbury Cemetery at sunset was entered into the Photograph Competition organised by the former Sunbury & District Heritage Association in March 2001.In 1862, land set aside in Cemetery Road for the Sunbury Cemetery was laid out in the following Christian denominational groups, Church of England, Roman Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian and Lutheran. Other non-denominational sites were set aside for paupers, heathens, Asians and pagans. Rebecca Jenkinson was the first person to be buried there in 1862. Over the years the size of the cemetery has expanded but it still occupies the original site off Shields Street in Sunbury and the names of the denominational divisions have changed over the years reflect a more inclusive outlook.Sunbury Cemetery replaced other smaller graveyards that were situated in some of the local church grounds and the earlier cemetery that was at The Gap township.A non-digital coloured photograph of a cemetery landscape with a number of old graves scattered across the open space. The photograph was included in a completion organised by the former Sunbury & District Heritage Association in March 2001. It is photograph of the lake at The Nook that served as Sunbury's swimming pool from the time outdoor swimming became acceptable until 1965 when a new Olympic sized outdoor swimming pool and aquatic centre was opened in Ligar Street. The modern pool was built as a result of the Sunbury Community raising funds for the project. Since 1965, the local council has added an indoor pool and a heated pool to the site as well as a gymnasium. Prior to the building of the new pool in 1965, The Nook site was where swimming carnivals and other aquatic events took place. Lydia Chancellor (1889-Dec 1979) Her parents were George Pethard and Miriam Peatling. George founded Tarax soft drinks in Numurkah in 1898 before moving to Bendigo in 1902 and establishing a brewing factory there. He also built the home "Taraxville" in Panton St. The factory ceased operation in Bendigo during WW1. After the war, the firm was re-established by George jnr, brewing in Melbourne. Lydia married Norman George Chancellor in 1924 but he died 2 yrs later. Lydia returned to Bendigo to care for her mother and began an extensive collection of Toby jugs. She donated 100 jugs to the Bendigo Art Gallery in 1973. James Redmond Gilbert (sr) was born in 1837 at Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He married Ellen Spouse. He , James Gilbert died on 26 July 1900 at Melbourne, and is buried at Boroondara Cemetery (Kew). J.R Gilbert lived at Running Creek (later Havilah) for some time, and during that time was employed in one of the bigger mines in the district.
