Linda Reid Kerferd (born 1875) was a long time member of the Harbour Lights Guild. She died 23 July 1957. Daughter of George B. Kerferd and Ann Martindale. The window was taken from an old cartoon drawn up by George H. Joyce Lane was born in Gippsland in 1922 and moved with her family to Bacchus Marsh when she was two years old. She remained in Bacchus Marsh for the rest of her life until her death in 2001. During her life she had written down many of her memories about Bacchus Marsh, particularly her early years from the 1920s through to the 1940s. During the 1980s some of these recollections were published in the local Bacchus Marsh newspapers. Towards the end of her life her writings were collated into three large volumes comprising over 500 pages. Photocopies of these were made by Bacchus Marsh and District Historical Society and added to its collection. The volumes of writings are known as 'Memory Lane'. Joyce Lane is one of the subjects featured in the book 'Bacchus Marsh by Bacchus Marsh: An Anecdotal History', compiled by Geoff Camm, published in 1986. This window, in memory of Ethel Godfrey, was unveiled in December 1935, by Archbishop Head. In June 1936 two other memorials were unveiled: brass tablet in the Williamstown building, and a sectile tablet in the Port Melbourne building. (Jottings 1936). This plaque was made to commemorate the generous funds donated Mr A.M Nicholas in 1936 almost entirely funding the building of the new Mission to Seamen at Port Melbourne opened in 1937. Mr Nicholas died in Feb 1937. The new building was opened on the 4th of December 1937 by Lord Huntingfield, the plaque was dedicated and unveiled the same by his nephew Mr Nicholas Lightfoot. The plaque was removed from the building which ws demolished in 1995. The plaque is really similar to the memorial plaque made in memory of Ethel Godfrey (see item 2053).Mr Nicholas together with Mr HW Shmith organised rights to produce Aspirin aka ASPRO in Australia in 1915 during WW1. The Nicholas Family were significant philanthropists in Melbourne and Victoria and this plaque commemorates his gift to the Mission for visiting seamen between 1937 and late 20th C. Alice (Micky) Nicholls was a voluntary helper for the Flying Angel League for a number of years together with her sister Gwen. The memorial plaque was dedicated to her in December, 1975. Moira Bird Oliver (nee Good) was a the wife of Padre Frank Leslie Oliver. They lived in the Mission for about 30 years. From Bronwyn Hughes: "The subject shows the resurrected Christ appearing to Mary. The window was probably the work of Joseph Stansfield and Phoenix Studios. After Brooks, Robinson & Co. closed its stained glass department in the 1960s, Stansfield, who was the senior artist and head of the department, set up in business with the foreman of the leadlight department, Jim Lynch. This booklet is a compilation by Carrol Preston, of photos and articles in various publications, principally the Snowy River Mail (published in Orbost). These articles relate to the loss of two Orbost young men, Simon Bommer aged 25, and Peter Savoury 27. On the 10 September 1967, these young men were last seen in a small boat at the Snowy River entrance, and were never seen again.This booklet is significant because is records most of the printed reports from 1967 of the deaths of two young men from the Orbost district who were lost in a boating accident near the mouth of the Snowy River. Alec William Bond was Secretary and Engineer for the Shire of Bacchus Marsh from 1924 until his death in 1968. The position of Secretary was similar to a Chief Executive Officer in contemporary terminology.
