The hospital was on the first floor of 'Criterion House', next to the old Shire of Grenville offices in Sussex Street. It is understood that Mollie also became a nurse and worked with her mother at the hospital. The hospital closed in the mid-1920s. In 1927 Mollie Coffey married Daniel O'Connell, a hairdresser and tobacconist with premises in the former Bennett/Todd building on the corner of Clyde & Sussex Streets. The O'Connells had three children, Jim, Nellise (Ellen) and Jack (John). Other fundraising activities were also undertaken at that time to modify the stark hospital environment of E1 to a more homely environment. Graphic artist and seamstress, Geraldine Roberts of Wendouree, made the windcheaters as well as screen printed the logo which the staff designed. Geraldine also did the graphics for an educational booklet the staff produced for expectant parents. While these services were centred in Orbost, there was considerable outreach throughout East Gippsland. In 2024, this service was discontinued and the service was then provided on a part-time basis by a visiting service from Lakes Entrance.
