Mention of the following: the Lamperd family (original settlers??) and cousins, the Chubb family (the safety lock makers).; Auntie Clark (Eliza Ann); Auntie Bowles (Mary Ann). This is a well written account of life in the region and warrants further study - there is mention of many people by name but surnames may be difficult to determine. Mention of places in addition - e.g. author attended Quarry Hill State School where her father was for some time a teacher. Bendigo Advertiser "The way we were" from 1999. Education: Gravel Hill State School, circa 1900. The history of the school dates back to 1875. It would appear that the school may have been controlled by the Presbyterian Church with Alexander Cook as head teacher.
