Ticket dated 21 August 1971, for use on an ARHS / TMSV joint tour to Farewell Ballarat Trams - the first day of the closure of the system. Ticket base is white with three vertical green stripes, which is printed in landscape format. Has been over stamped "Farewell Ballarat Trams" and "Tramway Museum Society of Victoria". From memory, these tickets were bulk printed by the Victorian Railways for the ARHS and the over stamped for use on particular days/events, meals etc. Would have been used as the tram ticket on the day. Black & White Photograph by the TMSV Sales of three cable cars heading north out of St.Kilda Road onto Princes Bridge bound for the city plus one cable car set heading southbound for Prahran. On the left is the Robert Burns Memorial statue unveiled 1904 in its original position. In the distance can been seen the Princes Bridge Railways station clock tower which resided in this position between 1901 and 1910. Prior to this was mounted on the Flinders Street Railway Station in 1882 facing the bottom of Elizabeth Street. In 1910 it was move again to Spencer Street Railway Station. Note the early Electric Street lighting in the center of the photograph. This photo dates from 1904 - 1910 period. The photograph has a satin finish. Typed letter from Keith Kings of the TMSV, Secretary to Mr Denmead, Tramway Supt dated 9/3/1962, asking to charter a tram for the purpose of sound recordings on Friday 16/3/1962. Asks for the use of trams 17, a bogie tram, and the scrubber and nominates the proposed routes. Mr Charles Craig will do the recording.
