... traditional singing... middle eastern traditional singing yalla maria sangiorgi exercise ...In 1999, as part of the VicHealth sponsorship programs, Arthritis Victoria partnered with the Ethnic Communities' Council of Victoria (ECCV) and the Department of Human Services (DHS) to promote the 'Active for Life' message through various sports and arts groups. In this photo, Middle-Eastern music and dance troupe, Yalla, are depicted performing at the Frankston Multicultural Variety Concert in July 1999 as part of a series of concerts. This photo appears on page 23 of the Arthritis Victoria (inc Osteoporosis Victoria) 1999 Annual Report under the heading, "VicHealth Sponsorship Programs". The photo is not captioned, however it accompanies a brief report under the sub-heading, "VicHealth Sponsorship Programs 'Active For Life - Just find 30 Minutes a Day' ".COL photo of a four-piece music and dance troupe performing on a large stage. The troupe consists of a female dancer and three musicians: a dambooka/darabukka drummer, a piano accordion player, and a violinist . They are all wearing Middle-Eastern inspired traditional clothing/costumes. The dancer is holding her arms out wide, mid-dance, while the musicians are seated. Above the stage, affixed to a large black backdrop, is a large white banner with a blue logo and the text, "Ethnic Communities' Council of Victoria". Beside the troupe is a freestanding vertical banner on a stand, with the text, "ACTIVE FOR LIFE JUST FIND 30 MINS A DAY", and a corresponding logo. Beside it is another banner with a logo and text in white on a dark blue background. The text heading is "Victoria 1999". In 1994, the Arthritis Foundation of Victoria (AFV) held a "Warm Up For Winter Dance" as a fundraising event during National Arthritis Week. The dance, which was held at the San Remo Ballroom, had a multicultural theme and featured performances by professional dancers and dance troupes. This photo depicts two flamenco dancers from the Sol Y Sombra flamenco dancing troupe performing on the dance floor during the event.
