Tram 21 was built by Duncan and Fraser, Adelaide in 1909. Originally built for the Municipal Tramways Trust of Adelaide. Came to Ballarat in 1937. At the time of the photograph it was the only tram running that had five saloon windows. Tram 27 was built in 1916 by Duncan and Fraser, Adelaide for Hawthorn Tramways Trust. It came to Ballarat in 1930 and became part of the fleet of the State Electricity Commission. When the trams ceased running in 1971, it was obtained by the Tramway Museum Society of Victoria. Built in 1916 for the Hawthorn Tramways Trust, it ran as Tram No.10. Renumbered 116 by the Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board in 1920. It was sold to the State Electric Company of Victoria in 1931. The number became its present number 27. The tram continued in service until 1971 when the SEC operated system closed. The photograph shows Tram 27 heading up the hill in Sturt Street. A line of other trams is waiting. This is at the bottom end of Sturt Street Ballarat. This tram was built in 1915 by Meadowbank Manufacturing , Sydney, for the Prahran and Malvern Tramways Trust. In 1928 it transferred to Geelong and numbered Tram 27. It was then transferred in 1936 to Ballarat and numbered Tram 21. When trams stopped running in 1971 it went to the South Pacific Electric Railway, Sydney Tramway Museum. Tour undertaken by the TMSV to cellebrate No. 27 reaching 1,000,000 miles in Ballarat. Has a photo of the tram No. 27 at the depot (see item 3316 for a black and white print) and a photo of some of the travellers from the TMSV inside the tram (see item 3317) for details of the people. This tram was built in 1909 for the MTT Adelaide. In 1937, it was sold to the SECV and numbered Tram 21. When trams stopped running in 1971, it went to AETM St Kilda Tramway Museum.
