Set of two drawings or sketches dated 20-2-1945, showing the layout of the armature bearings and the location of the retaining pin for Westinghouse 225 and General Electric GE 202 Armature bearings, both the gear and opposite to the gear side. Would have been used by SECV fitters at the depot, making up new bearings. This type of bearing was used on the four-wheel trams. Used as a SEC tramways employees pass. Demonstrates the badge used by the SEC for free travel on the trams.Stamped enameled round brass piece with an area of solder on the rear indicating where a retaining ring had been placed after the original ring at the top has been broken off. Has the SEC logo in the centre, organisational name (State Electricity Commission of Victoria) in white enamelled and outer ring the words "Electricity Supply Department, Provincial Tramways". This was in blue enamel. Shows horse-drawn vehicles and one electric tram arriving at the terminus, late in the evening. Shows the little shed at the terminus, and buildings on either side of the Sturt St. People waiting around the tram stop. The tram seems to have a "color" light indicator above the driver. Titled "Sturt Street, Ballarat" in red ink in the top left-hand corner. On the rear of the card, has the stamp "R. M. Noy, Postcard collection", cancellation stamp of Ballarat East, 23.5.07, 1d Victorian stamp. Written to Miss Victoria Kemsey? of 225 Victoria Parade, East Melbourne, wishing her many happy returns on the day. Has the logo of WTP." in the top centre of the card. Divided back type. Destination roll - white lettering on black background for the St Kilda - Brighton tramway, operated by the Victorian Railways until November 1956. Letters are 125 high, with painted black linen (glossy black), leaving the letters white, but with edge to give a shadow effect - see images. Roll quite stiff when rolled out. Roll 790 wide, with a top section (no destinations) 225 long, the destination roll section, 995 long and a bottom 240 long. Destinations in order are: ST KILDA RLY; DICKENS ST; VAUTIER ST; ELWOOD DEPOT; MID BRIGHTON; BRIGHTON BCH. Rolled in direction with destinations on the outside of the roll. The strips show the mark or hole shape for each ticket punch at Essendon Depot. The set of four sheets, for punches numbered 1 to 200 are dated 8/12/73. The second set, for punches numbered 1 to 225 have the same matching punch shapes as the first set but are undated. The second set could possibly be an earlier set when there were more conductors at Essendon.
