An alphabetical list of members of Legacy in 1932, with 170 names. The second list has the member name, their membership number, a business address and personal address. One of the few lists found that include the rank of the Legatee. Early in Legacy's creation it was determined that importance was not to be placed on the rank of the Legatee and all were seen as equals. The notation H16 in red pen shows that it was part of the archive project that was trying to capture the history of Legacy. Only the first page of the address list has been scanned as an example.This is one of the first documents that document the early Legacy Club. Kew achieved independence from the Boroondara Roads Board in 1860. As a new municipality, its first three leaders were designated as chairmen. On becoming a borough in 1863, its leaders were identified as mayors. The earliest photographs date from ca.1906, when the Town of Kew commissioned the noted local photographer Josiah E Barnes to produce standardised portraits of former mayors to be displayed in the Mayoral Chamber of the Town Hall. The collection also includes photographs by other well-known photographic studios such as Burlington Studios, Melba – Melbourne, Stuart Tompkins, Spencer Shier and Talma & Co. The majority of mounts identify the photographer. Eighty photographs are housed in their original frames.This portrait is one of a series of mounted and framed photographic portraits of mayors and town clerks of the former Borough, Town and City of Kew. The portraits were transferred by the City of Kew to the Kew Historical Society in March 1989. A Significance Assessment in 2018, funded by the National Library of Australia confirmed the historic, and often artistic significance of the series.Framed portrait of Cr. F.K. White, Mayor of Kew 1932-33, 1945-46. The mounting and framing of the photograph follows a typical layout or style in that each is framed in dark wood, glazed, and laid down on an inscribed board. This letter book contains handwritten letters, sketch maps and plans and dates from 1917 to 1920. It comes from the office of John William Crawley Junior, an engineer, architect and surveyor in private practice in Warrnambool and also the engineer for the Shire of Warrnambool from 1895 to 1935. His father, brother and son were also engineers and worked in that capacity or as Shire Secretary for the Shire of Warrnambool, with the Crawley family recording 132 years of service with the Shire of Warrnambool. The Shire existed from 1863 to 1994. The letter book was passed on to John Crawley’s son, Rolf, the engineer for the Shire of Warrnambool from 1935 to 1968. The letter book then came into the possession of Michael Hand who took over the private surveying business of Rolf Crawley in Warrnambool. The Warrnambool and District Historical Society then acquired this letter book, along with other Crawley ledgers, from the Michael Hand estate. This letter book is of considerable significance as it contains letters, plans and maps drawn up John William Crawley Junior, the engineer for the Shire of Warrnambool for 40 years. It will be very useful for research. This is a hard cover book of 745 pages. It has leather trim on the cover edges and the spine with gold lettering on the spine. The leather covering is scuffed and torn. The inside covers have a mottled blue lining. The book contains maps, plans and handwritten letters and has an alphabetical index at the beginning of the book. Commercial account book used to record attendance at board meetings of the directors of Warrnambool Cheese and Butter Factory Limited including special board meetings. Meetings were held at Allansford and Garvoc. Signatures of directors between November 1932 and February 1985 are recorded. M Burke was chairman during this period from the first entry in 1932 until June 1953. Other directors at the first recorded meeting were James Burleigh, RP Harney, JP Logan, JC Mattinson, TC Blain; WA Anderson was absent. James Burleigh was another long-term director retiring in June 1960. Final entry is 28 February 1985 when John F Anderson was in the chair; directors were JP Mahony, Anthony Rea, James McKinnon, MG Carey, Charles j Wines, Douglas J Logan. A second attendance book is also in the collection.This Attendance Book is important because it is the earliest known original record of directors' attendance at board meetings as previous records from 1888 were destroyed in a fire in 1929.
