A Legacy ceremony at the Shrine of Remembrance. It shows a group of school girls with wreaths sitting on the steps. It is one of the annual "Anzac Commemoration Ceremony for Students" events, held just prior to ANZAC Day. The ceremony provides a valuable opportunity for students to gain an appreciation of the Anzac spirit, the significance of the Shrine and the meaning of Anzac Day. Was with 01193.1 which shows school children with wreaths approaching the Shrine. And 01193.3 is the procession of school children up the steps to lay their wreaths in the Inner Shrine. See also 01194 which is a close up of the son of soldier wearing his fathers medals, which was the same date. Were in an envelope with other photos and programmes from different School Student ceremonies. The foundation stone for St George's Church of England, Mont Albert was laid in 1886 on land donated by Edward Dyer and the first service was preached in January 1887. From 1904 until 1907 it was known as Holy Trinity, Surrey Hills. The original church was weatherboard and replaced by a brick one in the Gothic Revival style which was designed by local architect George J V Blackburne, who also designed the Wesleyan School at Surrey Hills. The building was partly funded by donations, profits from a bazaar and concert, and other people donated furnishings. The church had boundaries along Mont Albert Road and St Georges Road. In 1998 the Church was sold and converted into a complex of units. Programme of a Legacy Demonstration at the Melbourne Town Hall on 19th October 1945. Throughout the year Melbourne Legacy provided classes for Junior Legatees such as dancing, gymnastics and eurythmics, the Demonstration was an annual event to showcase their skills. Melbourne Legacy conducted Annual Demonstrations / Parades from 1928 through to 1980s, usually held at Melbourne Town Hall.
