The phtograph was taken by Alfred Sinel who was the local photgrapher in Sunbury. The four arched bridge spans the river at Deep Creek, Bulla. The bridge replaced the forde crossing which is in the foreground of the photograph. The Jacksons Creek is prone to flooding when rainfall is very heavy. The two-arched bluestone bridge which spans the Jacksons Creek at the east end of Sunbury township, was built in 1857 and continued to be used as a road bridge on the main Sunbury Road-Macedon Street until the early 1970s when a wider bridge replaced the original bluestone bridge.A black and white photograph of a two- arched bluestone bridge which spans a dry creek bed. The five span masonry arch bridge over Blind Creek was one of the major constructions on the Melbourne to Echuca Railway. It was one of the first masonry rail bridges built in Victoria. The two-arched bluestone bridge spans the Jackson Creek on Macedon Street in Sunbury. It was built in 1860 and continued to carry traffic in and out of Sunbury until the early 1970s. The bend in the road on the approach to the east side was removed and a new bridge was built to carry the traffic. The old bridge became part of a pedestrian walk. The 'Pioneer Inn' was the first hotel to be built in Sunbury. It was on the west bank of the Jackson Creek near Powlett Street. Francois Hennebique expanded this idea into a general construction technique including for the construction of bridges with the first bridge built in 1875. In Victoria, Monash and Anderson, representatives of the Australian patent holders and later Victorian patent holders. The Bendigo Monier Bridges were built between 1901 and 1902. Frank Wright was a renown resident of Smeaton, where he was born. He lived at Laura Villa, and attended Smeaton State School. His father William was a gold miner and his mother's name was Sarah. Their family won many singing and instrumental awards. Frank was tutored by Percy Code and was awarded a gold medal for the highest marks in the ALCM examinations in the British Colonies at the age of seventeen years. He became the Australian Open Cornet Champion by the age of eighteen. A year later, Frank conducted the City of Ballarat Band, and later the Ballarat Soldiers’ Memorial Band. He formed the Frank Wright Frisco Band and Frank Wright and his Coliseum Orchestra. These bands won many South Street awards, and Frank as conductor won many awards in the Australian Band Championship contest. In 1933 Frank Wright sailed to England to conduct the famous St Hilda’s Band and was later appointed Musical Director of the London County Council, where he organized many amazing concerts in parks, in and around the London district. He was made Professor of Brass and Military Band Scoring and conducted at the Guildhall of Music and Drama. Frank was often invited to adjudicate Brass Band Championships around Europe, in Australia, including South Street and in New Zealand. The Frank Wright Medal at the Royal South Street competition is awarded to an individual recognized as making an outstanding contribution to brass music in Australia.This is a black and white photograph of a man standing beside a river along side a boat which is tied to the wharf, the boat is called Reitz. This is a photograph of the bridge in the Bulla township which spans the Deep Creek, a tributary of the Maribyrnong River. It has been constructed from bluestone which is found across the volcanic western plains in Victoria.
