Advising that the Nunawading Council is in the final stages of aquiring the historic and last remaining orchard in the municipality as a bicentenial project. The Mathesons, early district pioneers, bought the property in 1914 and have worked and lived there ever since. Article in Trust News. In 1988 Nunawading City Council purchased 2.5 hectares of an historic property which has been owned and occupied by the Matheson Family since 1914. It is one of the last working orchards in Nunawading. A Management Plan includes an environmental living program which aims at providing an overnight experience for children, giving both an experience how the property was operated as an orchard in the 1920s and 1930s. Roll of Honor used to hang in Mechanics Institute Hall which was on the site now occupied by the Scout Hall, Canterbury Road, Vermont.|Ron Clarke took it home when old hall was pulled down. It was just about falling to pieces but Ron wired it up and photographed it.
