Yields information about the announcement of the SEC Decision to close both Ballarat and Bendigo.Foolscap sheet of plain paper, with rounded corners, with 2 newspaper cuttings, concerning the mooted closure of the Ballarat Tram system 3 Feb 1962. All from The Courier, unless noted otherwise. 1 - "Ballarat to lose trams if SEC Edict stands - Notice to Councils" - reporting that the four affected councils have been notified by the SEC to discontinue or close tram services. At the time no date fixed, must be approved by Parliament, employees not to be displaced but offered alternative employment. Yields information about the 1968 proposals to close both the Ballarat and Bendigo tramway systems by the state government.Series of newspaper clippings adhered to three quarto lined sheets about the 1968 attempt by the Victorian Government to close the Ballarat and Bendigo tramway systems. .1 - "Trams will go from two cities" - The Sun Friday 19/7/1968, about the Government's decision - gives reasons for the closure. .2 - "Protest over tram protest" - The Sun, 28/8/1968 - with a photo of No. 35 and that the Ballarat Save the Trams Committee not supporting a public protest meeting called by tramway employees. Demonstrates the method of dispensing tickets by conductors, how the tickets could be arranged, during the last period of Ballarat Tramways - 1971 fare system. Yields information about the style and printing of tickets used in Ballarat and Bendigo tramways and how they were presented. Ticket wallet with a set of eight 1970's Ballarat tram tickets set up to represent a typical conductor's set of tickets. .1 - Sheet of leather, approx. 2mm thick, stained brown with four pockets formed on each side with another sheet of leather, stitched on all sides to form pockets to hold eight blocks of tickets. At the stroke of 5 pm from Eaglehawk Town Hall clock 82 years of history will end as the last tram makes its sentimental journey to the city, while at the Bendigo Cemetery - the Quarry Hill line terminus - another tram will be leaving for its last resting place. Manila folder, Wotan flat file, with built in fold back metal clips (see images 19 and 20) holding 9 plastic sheets that have been made to hold railway (Edmondson pasteboard) or tramway paper tickets. Sheet 1 - 25 No. MMTB tickets, ranging from 3d to 2/6 and two decimal conversion tickets, including 5 tickets which have been overstamped "City Section". On the rear are adverts for Blind Babies (Royal Victorian Institute for the blind), John Randle hair salon, Leighton home builders and the Promote Thomastown Committee. Sheet 2 - 25 No. MMTB tickets - decimal currency - two conversion tickets and other decimal currency tickets ranging from 6c to 25c. Included are 6 overstamped City Section tickets. Sheet 3 - 25 No. MMTB decimal currency tickets - ranging from 25c to $1 with one ticket overstamped "City Section". Includes one ticket with a red P overstamp. Sheet 4 - 22 No. MMTB tickets - 13 tickets overstamp P, for Pensioner, one bus transfer ticket, 3 non-cash tickets, one city concession tickets and four machine issued bus tickets. BHS CollectionTwo letters from the City of Greater Bendigo to Mr. George Ellis. The first dated 15/8/2002 mentions the Council has considered plans and proposed site for a marker. It is mentioned to liaise with Mr. Sandy Ireland about the specific location. Signed Cr Willi Carney. The second letter, dated 6/11/2002 is an application for a building approval for a poppet Legs Monument. There are also two plans, Sheet 1 is Framing Sizes (Proposed) and Sheet 2 Base Details.
