Mary Ann Moore was the daughter of Thomas Moore, a Gardener, and Sarah Harris who also settled in Brighton c1852. James and Mary Ann Jones settled and raised their family in East Brighton now Bentleigh. The Collins history of publishing dictionaries began in 1824 in Glasgow by William Collins who had a background as a teacher and an interest in material related to the Temperence Movement. The company continues to publish dictionaries to this day, including digital versions and foreign language editions. Today the company is known as Harper Collins.
