These items include newspaper cuttings, pamphlets, reports, timetables, fares prices plus special items relating to events. Items from Melbourne and regional Victoria, interstate - Adelaide and Sydney, plus overseas, make up this collection. Articles relating to transport collected by R Bridger in the 1950s. This scrapbook is divided into sections and contains articles collected from newspapers in Victoria and New South Wales. There are also a large number of tickets, pasted in or loose. Detailed lists of pricing for various routes on the suburban trains. Sydney papers were full of information on buses replacing their trams after 96 years. Dividers are used by navigators to measure the distance between two points on a map or chart. Each point of the divider is places on a map point, then the distance between the points of the divider is measured against the scale of the chart or map. This helps determine the ship's path of travel, the distance travelled and the current location.Not very significant as not associated with any historical event or person, same pattern of dividers is available today from many retail outlets. A pack saddle is designed to be secured on the back of a horse so it can carry heavy loads. It would rest on a saddle blanket or pad to spead the the weight of the saddle. The underside of the saddle is curved to fit the shape of the animal's back. It would be symmetrically divided by a gap at the top to ensure it does not rest on the animals' backbone and to provide ventilation. This saddle was possible owned by the Forestry Department for use by fire spotters.Horses played a vital role in the agricultural and transport history of Orbost. This item is connected to that role.A large brown leather pack saddle. The underside is curved to conform to the shape of the horse's back. It is divided into two parts for weight distribution.
