Erehwon was a popular guesthouse on the corner of The Esplanade and Steele Street, Cowes, purchased by Mr Dawson Davie family in 1923. From the 1920s it ran many activities for it's regular patrons and hosted notable guests eg Governor of Victoria, Earl of Stradbroke, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, . The Erehwon Point Holiday Motel replaced the old Erehwon Guesthouse on the corner of The Esplanade and Steele Street, Cowes. The guesthouse burnt down in 1963. Both were famous for the activities organised for their guests eg parades, dances and fancy dress competitions. Mr and Mrs Stein ran the motel in the 1960s-1970s.
