Plan, Burrumbeep, 1884, 16/10/1884
Auctions of Crown land were introduced in the Colony of Victoria from 1851 to encourage settlers to occupy and work the land. Many squatters purchased land at auction at the upset (minimum) price of £1 per acre. In some areas where demand was high, such as the goldfields, the price realised at auction was much more. Land was put up for sale in the study area on the Burrumbeep run in May 1855, on the Lexington run in 1857, and on the Gorrinn run in 1858. (http://www.ararat.vic.gov.au/library/document/thermatics.pdf, accessed 27 January 2015) For 70 years or more, Yalla-y-Poora, Burrumbeep, Edgarley, Mount William and Narrapumelap ranked in the leading wool producers in Victoria. 1 Stud owners at Yalla-y-Poora, Eurambeen, Burrumbeep and Challicum crossed merino sheep with sheep descended from John Macarthur's Camden Park in New South Wales. (http://www.ararat.vic.gov.au/library/document/thermatics.pdf, accessed 27 January 2015) In what was to become the Ararat Mining Division, gold was discovered in May 1854 on the Burrumbeep run at a place that became known as Pinky Point on the Mount William goldfield. By 21 June 1854, between 600 and 1,000 people had arrived. (http://www.ararat.vic.gov.au/library/document/thermatics.pdf, accessed 27 January 2015)\ Town allotment plan for Burrumbeep. Merrymbuela, Borung, Lexington and Langi Logan are neighbouring areas. The plan includes the Burrumbeep Pre-Emptive Right (Roger and Wright); licensed land holders including Stephen Young, John Carroll, William Walsh, Thomas Purcell, Martha M. Bond, Colin Johnson, John Charles Webb, Henry Withycombe, William Henry Barbridge, John Wall, Thomas Flatelly, William Jenkinson, Elisia Radford, V. Radford, Denis Byrne, George Cook. Robin Boyd Foundation
Certificate, AIA Architecture Critics' Medal, 1973
This medal was conferred posthumously as Robin Boyd died in 1971. In 1973, Patricia Boyd travelled to the American Institute of Architects Convention in San Francisco, to receive the AIA's Architecture Critics Medal on behalf of her late husband. She gave an acceptance speech at this event.Certificate from The American Institute of Architects, with crest, conferring 1973 Architecture Critics' Medal on Robin Boyd. Signed by the President, F. Scott Ferebee Jr, and Secretary, Hilliard J. Smith Jr. It is in a perspex frame. The American Institute of Architects is honored to confer the 1973 Architecture Critics' Medal on Robin Boyd. Distinguished creator as well as critic of architecture, Robin Boyd was passionately devoted to the ideal of what the human environment - particularly that most intimate environment, the home - could be. His writing could be pitiless, because he hated the cheap, the shoddy, the ugly around us. But more than most critics, he was able to empathize with us fellow professionals as they struggled to solve what he called "the puzzle of architecture'. May 1973. Terry Chumbley raised the issue of contamination of the Bayside site. His actions, particularly the correspondence included here, led to the EPA imposing a clean up notice on the site. The de-contamination work took several years and was reported to have cost $43 million. The discovery of site contamination indirectly led to the collapse of the S.C.D.C. proposal for the Bayside siteCollection of papers of Terry Chumbley, including newsletter 'Port Action', newsclippings and correspondence to relevant authorities, 1987 to 1989town planning - proposals shelved - bayside, environmental issues, local government - city of port melbourne, t chumbley, e walker, b robertson, r j (john) kirby, ronald 'bunna" walsh, f w jackson, h bocquet, environment protection authority, epa -

"Two hundred men of the Holy Name Society made a striking spectacle on March 26 when they marched through the streets of Daylesford to the Town Hall for a Communion breakfast, after Mass at St. Peter's Church, which concluded a tridium for the men of the parish, conducted by Rev. Father Whelan, P.P. There were many "New Australians" present. Among the visitors present were Mr. C. Condon, Mr. F. Frawley and Mr. Hooper, of the Melbourne Diocesan Union executive of the IIolv Name Society, and also eight members of the North Melbourne branch, beaded by their president, Mr. V. Sheahan. The president of the Daylesford branch (Mr. J. A. Gleeson) proposed the toast of "The Hierarchy and Clergy," to which Father Whelan and Father Moynihan, P.P.. responded. Mr. H.
