Part of the Uebergang Collection. Made by the firm of Triaca & Picchi. Camilo Triaca (1887-1972) was a sculptor born Tuscany, Italy. He arrived in Melbourne in 1909 and practised his craft in Richmond, Melbourne, before returning to Italy in 1914 to serve in the Italian Army. He returned to Melbourne in 1923 and continued to sculpt at his Richmond home before relocating to Fitzroy. A 1927 image of workers at his studio workshop taking a lunch break is in the Italian Historical Society collection (http://trove.nla.au/version172106091). The workshop was situated at 76-78 King William St, Fitzroy.Plaster figurine depicting a boat with a girl sitting in the front holding the rope of an anchor and a boy holding the back of the boat which is up on the sand. The girl wears a short sleeved frock with green edged neck and sleeves, and a matching scarf. Marriage of William George Gray to Frances Ellen Hurst. They were married at St. Mark's Church, Fitzroy in the Parish of St. Peter's, Eastern Hill, Melbourne, 12 May 1897. Frances was one of three daughters to Francis and Catherine Hurst of Hurstbridge. William and Frances would settle in Hurstbridge and operate Allwood Nurseries. This photo forms part of a collection of photographs gathered by the Shire of Eltham for their centenary project book, "Pioneers and Painters: 100 years of the Shire of Eltham" by Alan Marshall (1971). Anastasia Coutsouvelis is pictured wearing the white apron and standing behind the counter in her shop with her godson, Ilias Raftopoulos. Anastasia ran the successful mixed business in Brunswick Street, Fitzroy, opposite the former Fitzroy Football ground from 1951 to c1976. Anastasia is the mother of George Coutsouvelis who was the founding president of the Ithacan Historical Society established in 1993.This business is another example of businesses which some Ithacan Greeks still operated in suburban Melbourne up until the 1970s, around which time this type of business was in gradual decline and fewer and fewer owned by Ithacans. Club captain Alan Durward Mickle (20 August 1882 – 15 May 1969) later became a writer of essays and verse. Queen's College, St Kilda was a prominent private secondary school for boys and girls located in St Kilda, Melbourne. It operated independently of the residential Queen's College at the University of Melbourne. The school grounds were located near the corner of Fitzroy Street and Grey Street.
