The service of dedication of the "Flying Angel" stained glass window was filmed on 29th September 1999. The Windows was made by Peter Echter-Baltrunas from Lothlorian Glasss Art Studio and constructed. by Portland Leadlighters Guild for the St Peter's Mariners Chapel in the Portland (not to confuse with the St Peter chapel of the Flinders Street Mission in Melbourne).The Portland Mission opened in 1962. VHS video tape in plastic case. Front of case has a thin cardboard label/insert with an image depicting a stained glass window, with the text 'Portland Missions to Seamen' above the image and 'Flying Angel Project' below the image. Watercolour painting of Catalina Flying Boat - Attached to rear of frame is a short history of the Catalina Flying Boat together with the service history of Owen and and his younger brother Roy MORTIMER who both served in the Royal Australian Air Force in the South West Pacific area during WW2 Developed as a naval patrol aircraft, the Consolidated PBY Catalina was a widely exported flying boat during World War II. Over the course of the conflict it served with a number of different nations in a variety of roles. In the Royal Australian Air Force, PBYs and PB2Bs (a variant built by Boeing in Canada) served as multi role bombers and scouts, the type eventually earning great renown among Australian aircrews. The motto of the Catalina squadrons was "The First and Furthest." Document relates to item 199 - Watercolour painting of a Catalina Flying Boat by an unknown artist -tells the history of the Catalina Flying Boat as well as the service histories of Flight Lieutenant Owen Mortimer and his younger brother Flight Sergeant Air Gunner Reginald Roy Mortimer from West Wyalong, New South Wales who served from 1941 to 1945 - relatives of the Donor Dr Owen Campbell Mortimer. Flight Lieutenant Owen Mortimer completed 85 missions in the wartime South West Pacific area. Frecker carried out 7 sorties before joining the unit and 21 successful sorties with his squadron making a total of 179.4 hours operational flying. He was attacked and badly damaged by a night fighter on 12 April 1942, after attacking Essen. He brought his aircraft home and successfully crash-landed away from base without causing injury to his crew. The Flying Log Book was used by A315699 Lindsay William Fankhauser from qualifying as a helicopter crewman on 9 Dec 66 until a new Flight Log Book was issued on 15 Feb 74. The Lindsay Fankhauser lived in Gisborne and was a member of the Vietnam Veterans Association based at Woodend RSL.
