The President of the Ballarat School of Mines in 1916 was William Henry Middleton.Gold (15ct) round medal with a shield shape in the centre, and a gold jump link on the top, housed in it's original blue box. It is the Ballarat School of Mine's President's Medal for most meritorious art student and was awarded to Allan Bernaldo. The medal is housed in its original blue velvet box with the following stamped in gold in the inside lining "H.F. Hutton & Co. The jewellers. Ballarat."Hand engraved into the medal: Front:"School of Mines & Industries Ballarat. President's medal 1916 W.H. Middleton" Verso: "Most meritorious student Art School won by Allan Bernaldo".
