This sheet shows a preparatory lettering sketch that focusses upon the individual essence of each letterform. In the complete version, the point of essence is filled with black. This interest in the reductive follows a lineage of similar typographic experiments going back to the Bauhaus' Herbert Bayer (1900-1985) and the French typographer AM Cassandre (1901-1968).
