Meyer was a very prominent early obstetrician and doctor, playing a part in the establishment of the role of the chair of obstetrics at the University of Melbourne in 1929. He was also a foundation member of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons.A clear glass aspiration jar with a cylindrical body and a slightly rounded shoulder leading to a metal lid. The transparent glass has a smooth, glossy surface and shows some scratches and signs of aging. The lid is made of metal, with several protruding fittings and connectors for rubber tubing. These metal components display signs of tarnishing, oxidation, or discoloration. Bakelite fittings are attached to some ports and exhibit surface wear and hardening.
