Each ticket strip has the same ticket number. Form TYE 2-16. Each strip consists of 6 tickets, except .11, which is two tickets. Nine pages of notes and one page of copies of parcel tickets between the years 1937 - 1972. Included is some of the history of the SECV tramways. Also a short history of the tramways in Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong. Descriptions of the various tickets, quantities, stock on hand and the number used during the year. There are also notes on the closures of the Provincial Tramways. Attached to the front are two letters, one to Mr Hayes from Felicity Kingerlee thanking him for his article. This was in blue enamel. On rear stamped the number "127" Was issued to Mr. Adam Balloch, carpenter with the SEC depot. Sandhurst and Electric Tramways Company introduced the first trams to Bendigo in June 1890. These were battery operated trams but it soon became obvious that the battery life was unable to copy with Bendigo's hilly terrain. The trams were converted to steam in 1892. In 1899 the tramways were sold to the Electric Supply Company of Victoria and in 1903 the trams were converted to electricity. After WW1 the SEC was formed and took over the running of the trams. With the increased usage of cars, patronage of the trams began to drop off after WW2. In 1972 the tramways closed as a commuter service. Refers to Mr. H.H.Bell (M&MTB) and Mr. Kent Hughes as "Minister for Transport". VR to 62 gives K. Hughes as Minister for transport from 20/3/1935 to 1/4/1935.
