The photo shows a room full of Legatees. The venue, date and names are unknown. Legatees met for many reasons including weekly comradeship luncheons with guest speakers. In the early days meetings were held at places like the Phairs Hotel, and Victoria Coffee Palace. The photo appears in Blatchford's history of Melbourne Legacy with the caption: Melbourne Legacy Club Weekly Luncheon, September 1932.Legatees met up for comradeship meetings and functions. Two copies of the same colour photograph (100mm x 150mm) of the exterior of Crotonhurst, donated by Jean Gillespie on 18/11/1992. The file also includes three black and white photographs (86mm x 120mm; 88mm x 127mm; 109mm x 66mm) of the exterior of Crotonhurst, dated to circa 1937, donated by M Langdon on 14/03/2000. Handwritten notes provide details of the photographs and notes from the backs of the photographs. The file also includes two black and white photographs (157mm x 215mm; 155mm x 203mm), mounted on cardboard, undated and unattributed, of the interior of Crotonhurst. Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church was designed by the architect William Wardell. Prior to the construction of the church, mass was conducted at the Daniel Home 'Narbonne'. The foundation stone was laid on 13/11/1804 by the Catholic Bishop of Melbourne, Rev. Dr. J. Goold and the church opened in 1875 with later additions erected in 1890.A coloured photograph of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. It is an image of the front on west end of the church which highlights the rose window above the door and shows the skillion roofed room on the south side of the church. Sweeney's, originally Culla Hill, a former homestead, located on a site bought from the crown in 1842 by Irishman Thomas Sweeney. The cottage is important in the history of Eltham and of architectural interest as an example of a Colonial Style dwelling. The Living room shows a wooden door and floor with rug. A window to the left, two seats and a book case. This was the home of V.C. Burston.This photo forms part of a collection of photographs gathered by the Shire of Eltham for their centenary project book, "Pioneers and Painters: 100 years of the Shire of Eltham" by Alan Marshall (1971). The collection of over 500 images is held in partnership between Eltham District Historical Society and Yarra Plenty Regional Library (Eltham Library) and is now formally known as 'The Shire of Eltham Pioneers Photograph Collection.' The Ballarat School of Mines was the first School of Mines in Australia and was established in 1870. 22 page booklet titles 'The Ballarat School of Mines: A Statement of the Objects and Resources of the School.' The book has a number of illustrations including the interior of the Ballarat School of Mines Laboratory, and the former Ballarat Circuit Court House. It includes a statement of the formation, progress, and present position of the School of Mines, Ballaarat. The image of the Ballarat School Mines Assay Room shows assay furnaces, crucibles, chimney, and teacher Joseph Flude on the far right. This room is now is a building known as the 'Old Chemistry Building'.
