Henry Stooke came to Melbourne in 1842, and bought land in Eltham in 1852, building the Rosehill homestead. He was an eminent member of the community. The homestead was later called Belle Vue. The booklet details important aspects of Caulfield’s history including council procedures, the Caulfield Road District Proclamation, the first election and a summary of 100 years of local government with a description of the present Caulfield in 1957.
