“A Cup Winner’s Stable” appeared in The Australasian (Melbourne) Saturday 14/12/1907 on page 36 on the property of Mr. Stock of Wonga Park. In fact, this Tim Whiffler did not win the Melbourne Cup of 1867 and was stabled at Bully Brown’s Wonga Park Cattle Station from the early 1870s to about 1879. Although, itself not a Melbourne Cup winner it was a stud horse and was the ancestor of more than one Melbourne Cup winner.On the first page it is inscribed with the name "Robyn Smiley" and the school "Wonga Park"

Originally known as Bath's Hotel, it was the first legal hotel in Ballarat. By 1862 Craig's Royal Hotel had stone paved stables with 75 stalls and a hay-loft. A handsome Coach Office was added to the hotel where travellers could book coach tickets to all parts of the colony. So busy was Ballarat that 15-20 coaches arrived and left Craig’s Hotel daily. An antique green covered thick book titled: The Horse, in the Stable and Field: His Varieties, Management in Health and Disease, Anatomy, Physiology by J.H. Walsh, F.R.C.S. (Stonehenge). The front cover is blank, with the spine detailing in gold lettering the title, author and publisher. Maribyrnong was originally part of the former Shire of Braybrook and later the City of Sunshine. However, in 1994, Victoria underwent council amalgamations, which resulted in Braybrook being incorporated into the City of Maribyrnong. The suburb of Maribyrnong continues to attract considerable attention from the residents of City of Brimbank, particularly its historical features, the old buildings and distinctive streetscapes that characterise the area. Built in C1920, the Dale Stables are recognised as one of the best surviving examples of private horse‑training stables in the district and are listed in the City of Maribyrnong Heritage overlay. The stables have strong associations with the Maribyrnong Racecourse (near Fisher’s property), the Ascot Racecourse and Flemington Racecourse. The stables are historically tied to the Dale family, early settlers of the Maribyrnong township estate. The family were active in pig farming, road transport, horse rearing and local community development.
