It's early history is unknown. It was resurected from an old disused brick kiln in Penrith, N. S.W. where it was in a rusty disused state. Restoration was completed about 1990., and included replacing many missing items, icluding having a reproduction 'Blacksmith' radiator mascot.This truck is significant as it is representative of the early type of hand cranked (no starter motor) Vulcan trucks used in the Maffra district, particularly in the dairying industry. Allthough commonly used in the period, it is fairly rare, as not many have survived. In 1979, a version of the famous Birkebeiner race, the first Australian Birkebeiner was held at Falls Creek. In June 1990 representatives from Australia put their case for a southern hemisphere race in the series. Following a trial event in 1990. Australia became the 12th member of Worldloppet in the winter of 1991, with the first Kangaroo Hoppet. In 1991 a parade and commemorative torch lighting ceremony were organised in Mt Beauty as part of the celebrations to mark the first official Kangaroo Hoppett with participation from local community groups and commercial organisations, the Chamber of Commerce, local government representatives and individuals.Kangaroo Hoppet caters to diverse interests by offering a 42km and 21km event. It also offers a 7km event that attracts skiers, ranging from elite juniors to parents, grandparents, babies and first time skiers. It is recognised on the world cross country ski race calendar. It brings large numbers of participants and spectators to the area which support tourism, local businesses and employment. Peter and Robert arrived in Sunbury in 1864 to help their brother John with his milling enterprise. In 1866, Peter purchased the blue stone general store in Macedon Street near the bridge. He later built the Commercial Hotel also in Macedon Street and near the Ballcourt Hotel.Before the railway arrived in Sunbury, Macedon Street was Sunbury's main commercial centre. After the establishment of the railway, the commercial centre shifted close to the railway station. The Eadie family's stately home, 'Dunblane', was on the corner of Brook and Jackson Street.A Lutheran Church now occupies the lower section of the land fronting Brook Street, but the home has a local heritage listing. Peter Eadie became a Shire of Bulla councillor and President in 1880. It also has some historical interest as an example of a business or office machine used in the early to mid 20th century before the general use of computers. vintage business machines warrnambool 'Paragon' 'D.H.Wood Motors, 169 Koroit Street, Warrnambool' 'Lamson Paragon Limited Wiz Register' This is a grey rectangular-shaped metal box with rounded edges. ...This 20th century business machine was used by the firm of D.H.Wood Motors of 169 Koroit Street Warrnambool. This firm advertised that it sold mainly Peugeot and Studebaker cars and Hillman and Humber cars and commercial trucks. This machine has local provenance as it came from the 20th century business of D.H.Wood Motors. It also has some historical interest as an example of a business or office machine used in the early to mid 20th century before the general use of computers. This is a grey rectangular-shaped metal box with rounded edges. The box has four metal studs on the base to keep the box stable. The box has a hinged section for the insertion of the paper dockets and a turning mechanism for removing the dockets, one at a time from a slot at the top of the machine. The dockets have a white (customer's) copy and a pink duplicate copy for the business to file. Two of the dockets have been removed from the machine to show the contents. The number of dockets in the machine is unknown. The metal surface of the machine is rubbed and rusty and the paper is stained. ... Vintage Tram rides. Large colour photograph - laminated Tram No.28: Single Truck, drop ends, open California combination. ...Tram was built in 1916 and delivered to the Hawthorn Tramways Trust. it was taken over by the Melbourne & Metropolitan Tramways Board in 1920. In 1930 it was sold to the Electric Supply Company Co. of Victoria for use on the Ballarat tramway system and given the number 28. It was converted to an early form of one-man operation using barrier rails and aisles. The State Electricity Commission took over the tramway in Ballarat in 1934. In May 1934 the tram was decorated for three days to celebrate the Coronation of King George VI. In 1938 more changes were made to the appearance and it was painted dark cream and green. In 1946 it was painted Bristol Green and Ivory. In 1999-2002 it was returned to the colours of the SEC in 1930's - red and cream.Large colour photograph - laminatedIndian red and gold tram.
