The Sunshine Centenary Fire Truck refers to the special appliance displayed during Sunshine’s 1990 Centenary celebrations, when the Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB) showcased a modern Sunshine fire appliance as part of the suburb’s 100‑year anniversary events. It is associated with the opening of the new Sunshine Fire Station at McIntyre Road in the same year (1990), which coincided with Sunshine’s centenary.

This was not a vintage truck or a ceremonial rebuild (like NSW’s “White Knight” centenary truck). Instead, it was Sunshine’s current frontline appliance, presented as part of the centenary program.

Significance

The fire truck display formed part of Sunshine’s 1990 Centenary celebrations, marking 100 years since the 1890 survey of Braybrook Junction, the township that later became Sunshine.
