Historical information
Ardeer began as an industrial outpost linked to the Nobel / ICI explosives works at Deer Park, then transformed into a post‑war migrant suburb in the 1950s–1970s.
Its identity is shaped by explosives manufacturing, European migration, Kororoit Creek, and later environmental issues associated with former industrial land, for example the lead battery manufacturer in Forrest Street.
