The Deer Park Railway Station opened the 2nd April 1884 as the Kororoit Railway Station, built with the Serviceton line.

Early facilities included three‑road yard, passenger platform on the southern track, goods platform on the northern track, interlocked signal box. It functioned as a crossing loop on what was then a single‑track railway.

Renamed Deer Park Railway Station on the 3rd December 1889, reflecting the district’s identity shaped by the Melbourne Hunt Club and the explosives industry.

The Railway Station was completely rebuilt as an elevated station as part of the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP).

The new station opened on the 24th April 2023.

Significance

During the 1980s and 1990s, the station’s poor condition and lack of adequate facilities attracted increasing media scrutiny.

These photographs from The Advocate formed part of a sustained campaign urging the State Government and the Department of Transport to finally upgrade Deer Park’s facilities.
