Historical information
These photographs, taken by The Advocate in 1988, feature Cr Don Kay standing in the public car park on the corner of Dickson Street and Withers Street, Sunshine.
The images document a site that was later redeveloped for the Federal Government's Immigration & Ethnic Affairs Office building, resulting in the loss of the car park. They capture a period of change within central Sunshine, as new government and commercial developments reshaped the town centre.
Significance
As a record of a now-altered location, these photographs provide valuable evidence of the changing urban landscape of Sunshine and illustrate the impact of redevelopment on public spaces and local infrastructure.
