Historical information

These photographs, taken by The Advocate, depict MYM Furniture, Timber & Hardware at 77 Wright Street, Sunshine. The business was one of the suburb's classic "everything-you-need" local stores, serving Sunshine's working-class, migrant and industrial communities for many decades.

Produced for the store's local newspaper advertising campaign, these photographs capture both the business and its role as a longstanding community retailer within the Sunshine district.

Significance

The significance of the store comes from how it supported everyday life, home‑building, and handyman projects.
