Historical information
This intersection is one of the most complex in St Albans, where three streets converge in an awkward configuration: Arthur Street approaches Alfrieda Street on a slanted diagonal, while Biggs Street meets at a clean right angle. Together they form a tight, irregular three‑way movement zone that has long challenged both drivers and pedestrians.
The intersection had reputation of being a risk for motorist and pedestrians.
Significance
These photographs were taken before the roundabout and other traffic and pedestrian safety measures were installed.
