Historical information
These photographs, taken by The Advocate in 1994, depict Vic Weaver. His funeral was held at Sassella Park Senior Citizens’ Hall and the Girl Guides Rooms, facilities he had personally fought to have built.
Around 400 mourners gathered to farewell a man widely regarded as the driving force behind Deer Park’s community life.
Weaver owned and operated his butcher shop on Station Road and was affectionately known as “Mr. Deer Park” for his decades of service to the district.
