Historical information

The Sunshine TAB has a long, very local history, it was one of the everyday institutions of Sunshine’s working‑class life, a place woven into the suburb’s social fabric, especially from the 1970s through the early 2000s.

Significance

The TAB (Totalisator Agency Board) began opening suburban betting shops across Victoria after its establishment in 1961. This photograph captures its location in Hampshire Road in the early 1990's.
