Historical information

The clock tower belonged to the Massey Ferguson tractor plant, built on the former Sunshine Harvester Works land after H.V. McKay’s company was absorbed into Massey‑Harris‑Ferguson in the 1950s.

An earlier clock tower had existed on the site prior being demolished to make way for this tower.

Significance

The Massey Ferguson clock tower in Sunshine is one of the suburb’s most recognisable industrial landmarks, a relic of the era when Sunshine was a global centre of tractor manufacturing.
