Historical information
These photographs, taken by The Advocate in 1999, feature members of the St. Albans Turkish Cypriot Elderly Women's Group, which met at the St. Albans Youth Community Centre in Errington Reserve, Main Road East, St Albans.
The group was established by its coordinator, Tefika Celbioglu, to help elderly Turkish Cypriot women overcome social isolation and build connections within the community.
Members met regularly to socialise, share conversation, and enjoy traditional Turkish coffee, creating a welcoming environment that fostered friendship, support and cultural connection.
Significance
