Historical information
These photographs, taken by The Advocate in 1991, feature Geoff Darker, manager of the Time Zone Amusement Parlour at 265 Hampshire Road, Sunshine.
The photographs were taken during the surge in popularity of the arcade game The Simpsons, which had become the latest craze among local young people.
Time Zone's machines were in constant demand as players queued to try the new game. Prior to its release, the arcade's most popular attraction had been Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
The images capture a period when video arcades were a popular social destination for young people in Sunshine and other suburban centres.
