Historical information
These photographs, taken by The Advocate newspaper, show the team that won the B Grade 1990–1991 Premiership, the club’s first sub‑district premiership in the Second XI competition in its 50‑year history.
Sunshine defeated Balwyn in the playoff with five wickets to spare. Match highlights included Matt Biscupski’s unbeaten 105 and Peter Causon’s bowling figures of 3 for 42.
Significance
The Sunshine Cricket Club is one of the earliest organised sporting clubs in the suburb, with roots going back to the early 20th century, when Sunshine was still dominated by the H.V. McKay industrial township.
The club has played a major role in shaping local sporting culture and community identity.
