Historical information
These photographs, taken by The Advocate in 2000, document the sod-turning ceremony for the new Deer Park Ambulance Station in Station Road, Deer Park.
The ceremony marked the official commencement of construction of the new facility and brought together community leaders, government representatives, ambulance personnel and project supporters to celebrate this important milestone.
During the event, participants symbolically turned the first sod of soil, signifying the beginning of work on a project designed to strengthen emergency medical services in the rapidly growing western suburbs.
Significance
The establishment of the Deer Park Ambulance Station was particularly significant for local residents, as the nearest ambulance station was located approximately seven kilometres away in Sunshine.
The new station improved emergency response capabilities and ensured faster access to vital ambulance services for the Deer Park community and surrounding areas.
