Historical information

These photographs, taken by The Advocate in 199, feature John Denyer, the Factory Manager of Tubemakers located in St. Albans Road, St. Abans.

Affected by the nationwide economic recession, the factory reported a 20 per cent reduction in sales. Nevertheless, management retained its entire workforce of 12 office staff and 42 factory floor employees, reallocating workers to maintenance and improvement projects, such as painting the workshop and undertaking landscaping and gardening tasks, when regular production demands were reduced.
