Historical information

This photographs taken by The Advocate in 1988, feature the opening of the Hunt Club Community & Arts Centre is one of the most important cultural milestones in Deer Park’s modern history — the moment when a 19th‑century hotel, once the social base of the Melbourne Hunt Club, was formally reborn as a community arts precinct.

Dr. Jim Cairns, former Deputy Prime Minister of Australia and Federal Member for Lalor, presided over the official opening of the centre.
