This photograph, taken by The Advocate in 1994, shows Craig Parry teeing off at Medway Golf Course during the Craig Parry Mercy Hospice Golf Classic, a tournament named in his honour. Less than 24 hours earlier, he had secured his second Australian Masters Gold Championship.
Parry first learned the game at Sunshine Golf Club and later played pennant for Medway, making the event a return to his early golfing roots.
Significance
Craig Parry from Sunshine, became one of Australia’s most successful professional golfers.
He was born in Sunshine and went on to become a major international figure in the sport as a play and golf course designer.
