Mother of God Church, Ardeer was established in the mid‑1950s, when the Marist Fathers created a new parish for the rapidly growing migrant communities of West Sunshine, Ardeer, and Deer Park.
The church became part of St Theresa’s Parish, Albion in 1974.
Significance
The church represents the post‑war Catholic migrant story in Melbourne’s west, particularly Maltese, Polish, Ukrainian, and later Vietnamese and African communities.
