These photographs, taken by The Advocate on 30th October 1992, document the final trading day of Self Bros Licensed Supermarket on East Esplanade, St Albans.
The store had recently been placed into receivership, and the event marked the receivers’ stock‑clearance sale.
More than 400 people gathered outside the doors, and at 9:00am the supermarket opened for the last time, drawing a large crowd eager to secure discounted goods.
