Historical information

These photographs, taken by The Advocate in 1998, feature Richard Kneebone, Company Secretary of Orica, presenting the keys to a minibus donated by the company to the Sunshine Salvation Army Westcare Program.

Accepting the vehicle on behalf of the Salvation Army was Major Graeme McGlimont.

Significance

The donation highlights the important role that major local employers such as Orica played in supporting community organisations and welfare services in Melbourne’s western suburbs.

Through contributions of this kind, local businesses helped strengthen community programs and provided valuable resources to organisations serving those most in need.
