Historical information
The Sunshine Gardens became officially known as the H.V. McKay Memorial Gardens in 1953, when the Sunshine Council formally adopted the name to commemorate H.V. McKay, who had died in 1926.
That’s the moment the gardens shifted from simply being “the Sunshine Gardens” or “the factory gardens” to a named memorial landscape.
