These photographs, taken by The Advocate in 1991, feature Charles "Chas" Joseph Wilks and Anna Maria Moscati. Chas Wilks was a well-known jeweller who operated his business at 10–12 City Place, Sunshine, serving the local community for many years.

Wilks' Jewellery store became a familiar and respected Sunshine landmark, renowned as a destination for purchasing engagement and wedding rings, jewellery, watches, and giftware.

Through his long-standing presence in the town centre, Chas Wilks established a reputation for quality craftsmanship and personal service, making the business an important part of Sunshine’s retail and commercial life.

Significance

These photographs document not only a local business owner and his associate, but also the role of small family-operated enterprises in shaping the character and identity of Sunshine's shopping precinct during the late twentieth century.
