Historical information

The earliest development around Glengala Road began in the mid‑1920s, when the Glengala Estate was laid out on the western side of Kororoit Creek.

At this time, the area was semi‑rural, with the Sunshine Golf Club being one of the few notable landmarks nearby. The area did not grow significantly until after World War II.

Sunshine West, including Glengala Road, expanded rapidly during the 1950's and 1960's post‑war immigration boom.

The Glengala local shopping strip emerges during the 1960's and the 1970's and they were simply known as the Glengala Road shops.
