Historical information
These photographs, taken by The Advocate in 1991, are of Rev. Thích Như Định, one of the early resident monks associated with the Quang Minh Temple located in Braybrook during its transitional period in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Quang Minh Temple began in the early 1980s as a small Vietnamese Buddhist community in Richmond and Footscray.
After several relocations, it settled permanently in Burke Street, Braybrook in 1989, with its main hall being completed in 1994.
It is now the headquarters of the United Vietnamese Buddhist Congregation of Victoria and one of the largest Vietnamese Buddhist temples in Australia.
